Clayton is officially 2 ½ today. 2 ½ seems so much older than 2! I can’t believe how old he is getting, at least with another baby on the way I am not to sad to see him get older every day. I am sure once the baby reaches 2 ½ I will be really sad!
Let’s see….what’s going on with Mr. Clayton Jay…
He weighs…not sure, we haven’t been to the dr. in awhile (knock on wood), but I think it is around 35 lbs. He just had a big growth spurt about a month ago and now wears 3T pants, 4T (some 3T) shirts, 2T undies, and size 8 shoe!
Clayton is starting to talk more and more every day. He can communicate really well and I would say everyone can understand him. I think his favorite phrase right now is “Momma I workin.” He thinks he needs to go work after school and help Daddy work on the “bean head” or go to Papa’s shop. This little boy loves being outside and can practically name every piece of equipment around. We pulled into the driveway yesterday and he said, “Momma skid loader over there.” I was impressed and had to call him daddy right away to tell him what he said.
Around Valentine's Day my mom got Clayton the Toy Story movies, Woody, and Buzz. I am not sure whether to love or hate them. They are such cute movies and I enjoy watching them....but not all the time! Clayton has never been into watching t.v., until NOW. He is also loving all the March Madness games! He gets upset when the commericals come on b/c he doesn't quite understand where the game went. Clayton is also confused who to cheer for.....Go ILLINI or.....Rock Chalk Jay Hawk....hmmm wonder how that happened!
We have been working really hard on Potty Training. I think this is the hardest part of parenting by far. It can be so frustrating sometimes, but it has been worth it. I think we are down to about one accident a day. Clayton seems to have the potty training backwards with day and night. He is ALWAYS dry in the morning. Every night before he takes a shower he goes potty, then he is dry until morning, when he always goes potty for us when he wakes up. It seems he has accidents during the day when he is just playing to hard! He also doesn’t tell us when he as to go, so we put him on about every hour or so like they do at school. He does say “my belly hurts,” when it time for number 2. Enough about that fun topic….
We moved him to a big boy bed about 3 weeks ago. We have had no issues getting him to go to bed! Thank goodness he has always been a good sleeper. We were never big on laying with him, or letting him sleep with us (unless he is sick)…this worked for Clayton and will hopefully work for the next one!
I have turned him into a clean freak. He picks up around the house, “I put away,” as he calls it. If something is out of place he puts it where it belongs. He picks up his toys when I ask, but those messes don’t seem to bother him J. He is a really good eater too. Most night he says “I eat it up,” when he really likes something. He eats what we eat every night unless I know it is something he won’t like. He isn’t the hungriest boy, he never tells me he is hungry and rarely asks for snacks, but when it is supper time, he is ready to eat.
Clayton is such a loveable little boy with a big heart. He actually reminds me a lot of his daddy in those ways. I feel so lucky to have such an awesome little boy (and big boy) as mine!
